Der Hamburg-Wilhelmsburger Künstler Werner Schaarmann wurde zur III. International Art Biennale Beijing China 2008 eingeladen. Die Veranstaltung, die unter dem Motto “Colors and Olympism” steht, ist die größte Kunstschau in China.

Human’s spiritual energy would be inspired and the inner flames will be burned up in the course of pursuing higher quality. It embodies human’s ideals of peaceful competition and common development. The theme of the 2008 Beijing Olympics “One World, One Dream” is the best embodiment of the Olympic spirit. Beijing International Biennale will be held during the course of Beijing Olympics in 2008. Inspired by Olympic spirit, artists will portray the colorful world and varied lives. Undoubtedly, it will add new luster to the Beijing Olympics. In this broad framework, the participants will have more freedom in theme, pattern and style. The works could refer to sports, but also other fields, too, with the requirement of obtaining inspiration and strength from the Olympic spirit, i.e. peace, harmony and common development. The exhibition also encourages artists to draw inspiration from real life and create idealistic art works, which people are longing for, waiting for and dreaming for, reflecting the current living conditions of people worldwide. They will show multicultural enchantment promoted by the Olympics with various artistic languages.

The symbolic word “color” stands for plastic arts, such as painting and sculpture. It implies art and beauty, reflecting human beings’ rich and diversified spiritual world. The “Olympics” is the most grand sports event for the human beings. What’s more, it represents the lofty spirit of Olympism and the high-spirited philosophy of life which advocates a balanced whole qualities of body, will and mind, pursuing the perfect combination of strength and speed and faces challenges of “Higher, Faster, Stronger”.

In conclusion, the theme “Colors and Olympism” is just like a rainbow between art and the Olympics, over which the human beings’ dream can fly higher and higher.

Zusätzlich zu der oben genannten Kunstschau wurde die plastische Arbeit “One step towards success” für die parallel zu den Olympischen Spielen laufende Großausstellung “Olympic Fine Arts” in Beijing, China ausgewählt.
